Unit leader, camp promise-eAst
When was your first year at Camp Promise?
My first year at Camp Promise 2016!
Why do you keep coming back to camp?
I keep coming back to camp because of the people. The amount of kindness I am fortunate enough to witness each summer is truly remarkable. I meet the strongest and most amazing campers, counselors, support staff and of course directors. I have memories that will last a life time and I can't wait to make more for as long as I can every summer.
What's your favorite camp theme day and why?
My favorite theme day would have to be character day. It gave everyone a chance to express something they loved and it was fun to learn about what characters some people identified with, and even more exciting to learn about why they picked that character. Theme days, in general, are an amazing expression of everyone's personality. To be able watch what campers, and counselors do to prepare for the theme days before camp and really tap into their creative side is so much fun to watch!
What's your favorite camp memory?
My favorite memory has to be the talent show. I love how it is later in the week at which point campers are coming out of their shells. Though I would expect nothing less, watching the support that every single performer received from the rest of their camp peers, was overwhelming. The happiness and satisfaction on the performers' faces after they were finished was breathtaking.
If we did a talent show right now, what would your talent be?
Hmmm, speaking of talent shows...I would probably do something with a parter or a group of people because I love being up on stage with other people so we can share the laughs afterwards. I bet we'd probably do some sort of lip syncing or dancing performance.
What’s your day job?
I work at a group home as a PCA. And I'm a babysitter. And I waitress part time, too!
Anything else you want the world to know?
Fun Fact: Camp is by far my FAVORITE week of the year. I hope to be involved with Camp Promise for as long as possible!
