Min Jin Lee
Unit leader, camp promise-East
When was your first year at Camp Promise?
It was in 2015 at Camp Promise-East, when we were located in Pennsylvania. It was my first time in Pennsylvania, so I was already stepping out of my comfort zone. The entire week at camp just blew my mind, and ever since, I keep coming back...and I even went back for round 2 at Camp Promise-West in Seattle after having had so much fun at Camp Promise-East that first summer.
Why do you keep coming back to camp?
I love the community. The directors are fabulous, counselors are tireless, and the campers are just so, so wonderful.
What’s your favorite camp theme day and why?
Cabin Color Day. This is the day you show your cabin spirit, when campers and counselors work together as one. We take pride in our cabin color!
What’s your favorite camp memory?
Prom. By the end of the week, when everyone is so familiar with one another, we throw an amazing dance party. We dance, laugh, and just have a great time together!
If we did a talent show right now, what would your talent be?
I have stage fright if I am on a stage by myself. But, I really enjoy singing in a group, so I would totally sing with the campers and counselors in my cabin.
What’s your day job?
I currently work as a research associate at a biotech company called CRISPR Therapeutics.
Anything else you would want the world to know?
A week at Camp Promise is full of love, joy, and wonder, and a week is almost too short. Everyone becomes a part of a big family, and the friendships you form at camp last forever.
