Rachael on Camp T-Shirt Day; Camp Promise-East 2016

Rachael Block
Unit leader, camp promise-East

When was your first year at Camp Promise?
My first week of camp was in July of 2015 at Camp Promise-East. I loved it so much that a few short weeks later I found myself cheering on the arrival of campers at Camp Promise-West.

Why do you keep coming back to camp?
I keep coming back to camp for one reason: It is the best week of my year. It is a week defined by endless amounts of laughter, adventure, exploration, experiences, friendships, and fun. At camp, we are able to replace limitation with opportunity. No is not an answer because anything that seems impossible, becomes possible. The infinite magic that is Camp Promise will always keep me coming back for more.

What's your favorite camp theme day and why?
My favorite theme day at Camp Promise is cabin color day because it is the best day to pull a great prank on another cabin!
What's your favorite camp memory?
My favorite camp memory was at Camp Promise-West 2016. For the talent show, the Blue Cabin dressed up as girls and sang and danced to the song “Man! I Feel Like a Woman”.

If we did a talent show right now, what would your talent be?
If we did a talent show right now, my talent would be my perfect “whip” and “nay-nay” moves.

What’s your day job?
I am a nursing student at Drexel University in Philadelphia, PA. You will either find me with my head buried in a nursing textbook or you will find me talking non-stop to everyone about how much I love Camp Promise!

Anything else you want the world to know?
I want the world to know that every summer you aren’t a part of Camp Promise, you are missing out on the best experience of your life!
