Camp Promise-East Campers
WELCOME! With camp right around the corner, we hope you are as excited as we are. This page has everything you need to get ready for and succeed at camp this summer. From our new Camper Handbook to this year's theme days and dances, we've got you covered. We have a lot of fun activities planned (pranks included), and we want to make sure you have all of the information you need to be prepared for camp this summer. Below you will find:
- Camper Handbook
- NEDS Waiver
- Camper Check-In
- Driving Directions
- Camper Pick-Up
- Camp Map
- Theme Days & Dressing Up
- Packing List
- Camper Medications and Medical Update Form
- Adaptive Cycling Waiver Needed
Please be sure to review our brand new Camper Handbook before you get to camp. It contains a lot of important and helpful information, including camp rules & policies, sample schedules and more about our activities, and what you can expect at camp. We will cover some of this at our Camper Orientation on the first day of camp, but please familiarize yourself with this information prior to arrival.
For folks who are returning to Camp Promise-East, you will remember our friends from New England Disability Sports (a chapter of Disability Sports USA) who joined us last year for adaptive cycling and archery. We are pleased to announce they will be joining us again! If you would like to participate, please fill out and sign the NEDS waiver and email it to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Camper check-in will take place on Monday, July 2, 2018 at the time specified in the welcome email we sent to you. Please come at your assigned time to help us control the flow of traffic on our narrow camp roads. Check-in will take place at Ashley's Place (click here for a map of camp), and we will have folks available to direct you upon your arrival. Lunch will be served to campers that day.
Cell service can be poor in the area, so it's a good idea to print directions in advance. Click here for driving directions (included are ways for parents and caregivers to contact their camper during the week of camp). Our camp address is:
Channel 3 Kids Camp
73 Times Farm Road
Andover, CT 06232
Parents and caregivers are asked to pick up their camper(s) at 10:00am on Saturday, July 7, 2018. If you need to pick up your camper earlier, please contact our office so we can be prepared for your arrival.
All campers will receive a tour of camp on their first day, but in order to familiarize yourself with our facility, click here to see a camp map.
Theme Days & dressing up
We encourage everyone to dress up in costume for our theme days, special events, and themed dance, so dig through those closets, hit up the thrift store, or get crafty. Click here for the 2018 themes!
And, for more information on what costumes and theme days look like at Camp Promise, click here for our Guide to Costumes.
Our packing list is a general list of items each person will need at camp. You may need additional items, so please plan accordingly. You should have also received your cabin color via email, so don't forget to pack wacky clothes and accessories (e.g., wigs, hats, socks, shoes, costumes, etc.) in your cabin color so you can show off your cabin spirit on Cabin Color Day.
As you are preparing for camp, please remember that all medications must be labeled, identifiable, and brought to camp in their original bottles with labels. This applies to all supplements, vitamins, over-the-counter medications, prescription medications, etc. Weekly pillboxes will not be accepted. All medications will be turned in to our camp nurse during check-in and will be administered by the camp nurse during the week of camp.
New this year: If you have a change in equipment, medication dosage and/or new medication, you can use the Medication and Equipment Update form to update our records.
We look forward to welcoming you to CPE2018 on July 2, 2018. In the meantime, don't hesitate to contact us with any questions!
